Why Call It Voodoo Lube?
I
was casting bullets with past Heavy Class National Champion Fred
Retzloff one day and we were talking about how people are shooting the
groups and scores that they are. Fred piped up and said it was
"Voodoo Magic". I jokingly said if I ever get the lube formula
perfected I was going to call it "Voodoo Lube". We both got a
pretty good chuckle out of this and still do today.
|
What Makes Voodoo Lube So Special?
Several things. First Voodoo Red is a synthetic bullet lube and is more
reliable under all climate and temperature conditions than mineral base,
vegetable or animal ingredient lubes. It contains
no animal by-products that can deteriorate or break down in your barrel.
It contains no petroleum based products that can burn or sludge up your
barrel.
Second, Voodoo Red has Carnauba Wax, one of the hardest waxes
known to man that helps keep your bore bright and shiny.
Third, a 100%
full synthetic high pressure grease that will withstand the rigors of
the pressures inside your barrel.
Fourth, a 100% full synthetic anti
friction additive that reduces the friction between the bullet and the
barrel which will generate less heat and increase barrel life.
And
finally, a special laboratory grade anti seize / release agent to
prevent any leading from sticking to the barrel should it occur from gas cutting, and to
assist in lube spin off on bullet exit from the barrel.
Voodoo Red is a soft lube that requires no heat under normal conditions.
It presses smoothly from any lubersizer. You won't need to clean as much
or as often once your barrel is seasoned with Voodoo Red. Voodoo Red has
been tested with velocities over 3000 fps without leading. It is less
sticky to the touch and doesn't melt off your bullets on the hottest
days.
Voodoo Red is carefully hand crafted in small batches to ensure consistency.
The proportions of the ingredients are critical and are weighed in
grains to make sure you are getting the finest cast bullet lubricant on
the market. Sure the ingredients cost more and it takes more time to
make, but you don't go to a match to finish in second place do you?
|
What is "Lube Spin Off"?
Lube
spin off is when the lube actually spins off of the bullet after it
leaves the muzzle. Some lubes are designed to stay on the bullet through
out it's travel to the target. If a small piece of the lube comes off of
the bullet mid flight, your bullet goes out of balance and can cause the
dreaded "Flyer". It is my and others opinions that if there is
nothing to alter the bullets flight, such as lube, the more accurate
your shot will be. When the lube "spins off" immediately after
exit from the muzzle, then there is less that will affect the bullets
trajectory to the target. If you reduce the amount of variables that can affect
accuracy, you increase accuracy.
|
If It So Hard And Expensive To Make, Why Do It?
A
couple of the lube makers have stopped making lube, or it is difficult
or takes forever to get. There are people that have used those lubes and
can't find a suitable replacement. If they can't shoot as well the
chances of them loosing interest and stopping shooting are pretty high.
I love this sport and the people I compete with, I have made some good
friends across the country shooting cast bullets and want that to
continue. |
If Voodoo Red Is So Good, Who Is Using It?
I
have been using Voodoo Red since June of 2006, but I will
list some of the people that helped with testing and development that have been using it
in competition below. They may have or
may not have listed it as what they were using on their tech data
sheets, that decision was left to them.
